Six Flags

This summer we have been trying to find cheap and fun things to do. Last week we went to a lot of places that my grandfather and grandmother planned for us to do together, but Six Flags was one of my favorite places we went to. It was our first time going. We went on a lot of rides and I loved all of them. Before we went on any rides we rode a train that took you around the park that showed you all the rides. We tried to do the little things first to get used to it before we went to the big rides. My favorite rides were Thunder River and Splash Waterfalls. We got soaking wet, it looked like we went swimming in our clothes. Thunder River was a ride down a river with rocks and it had a mini waterfall we went under. There was something on Thunder River that looked like a water gun the water came out so hard and fast. Splash Waterfalls was a rollercoaster that went up a huge hill as slow as it could go then turned really fast and all of the sudden you went straight down a steep hill into water. Those rides were so much fun, but we went on a lot more. We rode on a ride that was called The Dahlonega Mine Train I rode with my grandmother it was so much fun but it jerked a lot. There was this tunnel that you went in it went slow so it felt like you were done but all of the sudden we went straight down it felt like I was going to fall out but it was fun. Another thing we did was drive old fashion cars my cousin and I drove in one car she drove it was fun but kind of scary. After we went on that ride we went on this boat that went back and forth and spun us around on the base of the boat. When we were done with that we went to a show that had country music. It was great music. We were going to do so much more at the park but they closed down the park early because the water did not work. So we headed home. I had so much fun!

Tellus Museum

Yesterday my grandmother, sister, brother, mom, and I went to the Tellus Museum in Cartersville. I had already been there for a field trip in middle school. Tellus is a huge science museum, and it has many interesting things. In the main lobby there was this huge ball hanging from the ceiling. Below that there were dominoes. The ball moved back and forth. The dominoes moved with the Earth's rotation. So every ten minutes the ball would knock a domino down. The sign you could read said it took twenty three hours to knock down all of them but I'm not sure how many there were. One thing we did is the Planetarium. There is a large room with seats that lean up towards the ceiling. When we looked up there was a huge dome over our heads. They shine lights to the dome to look like stars and planets. It looked real like you were outside at night.
We also saw all different kinds of rocks and minerals. One of my favorite things we did in the museum is gem mining. We got to mine for rocks in sand. After we were done we got to keep them. After that we went to the fossils. There were all different types of dinosaurs. Another really fun thing we got to do was dig for fossils. When you found one you liked you could keep it. There were shark teeth, rocks with different animal prints in them, and so many more. I found a shark tooth that ended up being the one I kept. After we were all tired and saw everything in the museum, we headed home. We all had so much fun and would love to go again!

My First Week of Summer

During the first two weeks of summer my brother and sister had basketball camp. So I got to spend time with my mom and grandmother. One day we went to get our nails done. My grandmother and I got our toenails done, while my mom shopped. My grandmother only got her toenails done, but I got my fingernails done too. It was hard to pick the right color. They have so many colors to choose from. Finally, I picked a pinkish color. I got my fingernails done the same color. They gave us a massage, and we sat in a chair that vibrated like someone was rubbing your back. Pretty soon it was time to pick my brother and sister up from school. Those few days were so much fun!

The Turkey Trot and Rabbit Run

One morning this week I looked out the front window of my house. I saw a big black turkey. It was running in a zig-zag pattern in our high grass. I was wondering why it would be running. So, then I looked in front of it and saw a big gray rabbit. You could see it jump up in the grass every once in a while, then it would go back down into the grass and you couldn't see it anymore. The turkey chased the rabbit very far away. After a while I couldn't see where it had gone. It was very funny watching a turkey chase a rabbit in our front yard!

Baseball All-Stars

My brother made the allstar team this year. One day this week we went to his tournament . We left supper early just in case we got lost. It was about thirty minutes away. The time flew by so fast it seemed less than twenty minutes. We got there with time to spare. My gram, granddaddy, and my cousin came with us too.
My granddaddy stayed with my brother at the field. While my mom, gram, sister, cousin, and I went shopping. We expected to get back to the field in time for his game, but his game started ten minutes early. So we missed a couple of minutes of his first inning. They were ahead of the other team for the first four or five innings.
After those innings the other team started to catch up to our team. We were both tied for a little while. We ended up losing the game by one point the last few minutes. Everyone ended up playing a great game. They play three more games this season. I am so proud of my brother !

Old Friends Visit

My family and I moved before the school year started last year. We moved after my fifth grade year from Buford to Rome. Yesterday some of my first grade teachers came to visit us from Buford. They also worked with my mom . So we were all really excited about them coming to see us. They came about lunch time so we made lunch for them. After we were done eating we talked for a while before they had to go. We had so much to talk about. Before we knew it they had to go to get back to Buford before dark. It was so much fun having them over!

It's Summer

This is the first week of summer for middle school. It feels so good to sleep late and not get up early in the morning. We have a lot of things to do this summer. We plan to go to Six Flags and White Water. We also plan to do a few little things, but they're usually really fun. We'll have movie night, spa night, and a lot more.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is go to our farm house . We share this house with our family. We have done a lot of work on the land and the house since we have bought it. It is a lot of work, but it will be worth it. It is so beautiful and clean.

My mom always works hard to make our summer the best it can be. In the summer my family tries to find fun and cheap things to do. We play cards, and games, and Wii. Summers are always fun for me and my family!!
